German automotive brand BMW has come to the fore with a security decision that closely concerns vehicle owners in the USA.

The latest report published by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) revealed that a significant technical problem with the steering system was detected in some BMW models.

According to the authorities’ statement, 36 thousand 922 vehicles will be recalled as a precautionary measure due to the malfunction in question.

In the investigations, it was determined that the steering wheel could move uncontrollably even when the vehicles were completely parked.

NHTSA emphasized that this situation poses a risk, especially for individuals in the vehicle.

IT ALSO CAUSES A RISK WHILE DRIVING

In the technical examinations, it was determined that the malfunction could occur not only while the vehicle was parked, but also while driving. Experts warned that unexpected steering reactions while driving could lead to significant accident risks.

As the safety risk increased, BMW decided to initiate the recall process as a preventive measure.

Detailed information about which BMW models the recall will cover has not yet been shared.
